Qualifications MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS: Contributes to the success of UTMB Health Care Systems Staffing.

Assesses the pulmonary care needs of patients.

Identifies the contraindications and possible complications of patients receiving pulmonary care.

Initiates, evaluates, and reviews pulmonary care plans that reflect a multidisciplinary approach to appropriate preventive action.

Sets up and maintains respiratory equipment.

Performs blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests.

Participates in patient rounds.

Maintains patient records and equipment inventory.

Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.

2 yrs.

Experience as Registered Respiratory Therapist in acute care setting.

Respiratory Therapist in acute care setting.

Must have current CPR and ACLS verified and obtained through the American Heart Association.

EQUIPMENT : Standard respiratory therapy equipment.
