Job Location: Pittsburgh, PA Must have a License in Pennsylvania The Professional Registered Nurse provides skilled professional nursing care to the patient as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with regulations established by the College of Nursing, the Nursing policies and procedures of MileStone Staffing Services, and the client facility.

Assignment of the Registered Nurse to client facilities shall reflect the highest Standards of Nursing Practice; shall be proactive and reactive to client needs and shall be provided in a manner which promotes quality, continuity, and safety of patient care.

All duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse shall be in accordance with the Nursing Standards and shall be utilized in accordance with basic principles or guidelines of a Professional Registered Nurse.

When serving the needs of an organization or medical institution, duties shall also follow policies and practices established by the particular institution.

The RN is responsible for seeking and obtaining sufficient information necessary to function effectively in the healthcare setting where assigned.

3.

Specific role functions shall include, but are not limited to, the following: a.

Provide professional nursing care utilizing all the elements of the nursing process.

b.

Assess and evaluate patients upon admission; regularly re-evaluate patients’ nursing needs; write and initiate Nursing Care Plans; and revise Care Plans as necessary.

c.

Initiate and sustain implementation of orders for medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician in the medical Plan of Treatment.

d.

Initiate and apply appropriate preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing procedures and techniques and maintain communication regarding patient care with the physician and the Nursing Supervisor.

e.

Complete, maintain, and submit accurate and relevant Clinical and Progress Notes regarding the patient’s condition and care given.

f.

Observe the patient for changes in condition and report these changes and the patient’s needs to the attending/supervisory physician and appropriate supervisory RN personnel.

g.

Assist the patient with Activities of Daily Living and facilitate the patient’s efforts toward self-sufficiency and independence.

h.

Teach the patient and family self-care techniques as appropriate; provide medication, diet, and other instructions as ordered by the physician; and recognize and utilize opportunities for health counseling with the patient and family.

i.

Provide and maintain a safe environment for the patient.

j.

In cooperation with the family and healthcare team members, work to meet the emotional needs of the patient and family.

k.

Supervise ancillary personnel and delegate responsibilities when required.

l.

Function in charge of a unit after sufficient orientation.

m.

Perform within the limits of preparation and experience.

n.

Accept responsibility of assignment to a specialty area only when qualifying with specialty training, proven competency, clinical background, and expertise in the specialty area.

o.

Assume responsibility for personal growth and development; maintain and upgrade professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance and participation in continuing education and in-service classes.

p.

Fulfill the obligations of requested and/or accepted MileStone Staffing Services assignments.

1.

Graduate of an approved school of professional (registered) nursing or obtained sufficient experience in the U.S.

military medical system or other such program to have been licensed through the challenge process.

2.

Currently licensed as an RN through the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice, with the license held in good standing.

3.

At least one year’s experience within the last two years as an RN.

Must have experience within the year prior to date of application in the area in which placement is desired (i.e., acute care experience for placement in acute care facilities).

4.

Successfully complete the RN/LPN Medication Test (or specialty care test) with a grade of 80% or better.

5.

Possess and maintain good physical stamina and mental health.

Present an annual physician’s health clearance including a negative TB Skin Test and/or chest x-ray, and other tests required by specific state statute, MileStone Staffing Services, or client facility policy.

6.

Possess and maintain current CPR Certification and other certifications as required in specific clinical areas and/or client facilities.

7.

Have satisfactory references from Nursing School, previous (or current) employers, and/or professional peers.

8.

Have excellent observation, good nursing judgment, and communication skills.

9.

Be self-directing with the ability to work with little supervision.

10.

Exhibit professional behavior and attitudes including empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and impaired.

11.

Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligations.
