Description SHIFT: Evenings (rotating weekends) SCHEDULE: Full-time Facility Description: Las Palmas Medical Center offers comprehensive services and special expertise in Emergency Room Medicine (Level III Trauma), Cardiology, Women’s Services, Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Neuroscience, Pediatric care, and Wound Care Management.

Las Palmas Medical Center is also the only Kidney Transplant Center in the Region.

Las Palmas Rehabilitation Hospital is a separate facility with newly renovated patient rooms, exercise equipment and cafeteria.

The physicians, nurses and staff at our 325-bed facility are committed to caring for our community with compassionate, quality healthcare.

We are located on the Westside of El Paso, Texas close to the University of Texas El Paso campus.

We provide exceptional patient care services to the El Paso and Fort Bliss communities, as well as Southern New Mexico and West Texas Regions.

Unit Description: We are a growing emergency department in a growing community that currently sees 45,000 patients annually.

Our Emergency Department is a 26-bed that includes specialty rooms for pediatric, gynecological and trauma patients.

We have a special Quick Care area housed in our main lobby to care for our patients with minor injuries or illnesses.

We are an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Accredited Stroke Center equipped for all cardiac and stroke emergencies.

We are a level III Trauma designation which prepares us to treat up to Level II trauma patients.

Our practitioners and nursing staff are all trauma certified to provide the higher level of care.

We strive to make the ED experience as pleasant and as efficient as possible.

Las Palmas Emergency Department is a democratic unit comprised of 100% staff and physician involvement, with all emergency board certified physicians, where all staff have a voice in how the department functions.

POSITION SUMMARY: The RN staff nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Las Palmas Medical Center and the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.

In collaboration with the patient, the patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and coordinates treatment plans.

POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Triage, assess and treat patients of all ages presenting for emergency care for all body systems, conditions & diseases including but not limited to: Coronary, Pulmonary, Neuro, Skeletal-muscular, GI/metabolic, GU/renal, GYN, integumentary, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrates knowledge and application of advance patient care, to include vital signs, venipuncture, urinary catherization, cardiac .monitoring, nasogastric tube insertion, medication administration as per the medical director, endotracheal intubation, ACLS and 12 lead EKG.

Blood glucose monitoring, patient transfers
– lifts, immoblization techniques, basic wound care and dressing changes, assist with emergency procedures and equipment/supplies, pulse oximetry monitoring and oxygen delivery device application.

Monitors and recognizes changes in the patients behavioral and physiological status and takes appropriate action based on assessment.

Utilizes professional skills and judgment to perform assigned nursing treatments and procedures for a group of patients.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS RN licensed in State of Texas or compact license BCLS ACLS (GN’s , GVN’s and new certified Paramedics have 6 months to obtain) PALS or ENPC (GN’s , GVN’s and new certified Paramedics have 6 months to obtain) TNCC (RN only) GN’s have 6 months to obtain REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Associate degree in Nursing or Bachelors Degree in Nursing
