Promotes adaptive responses of patient/family to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction.

Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.

Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff.

Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in their assigned nursing unit.

Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all interactions.

Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to Geisinger and unit specific Service Standards.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates strong organizational skills and effective communication skills.

Demonstrates excellent clinical nursing skills, knowledge, judgment and leadership in a multidisciplinary environment.

Meets and follows the Division’s and Organization’s established Service Standards and adheres to the Code of Conduct.

Maintains professional confidentiality, a positive attitude, professional behavior, and attire.

Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide treatment and care to the age of patients served (i.e.

neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics).

Maintains all hospital and unit-specific competencies, GOALS, and employee health requirements in a timely manner.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program.

For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years’ work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date with BSN degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.

Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania or the ability to become registered Bachelor’s or Nursing degree preferred.

Basic Life Support certification preferred and required within 60 days of employment.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support/Pediatrics Advanced Life Support may be required within 1 year of employment (unit specific).
