– Duties SummaryThe RN Case Manager (CM) is a clinical expert demonstratingleadership in facilitating patient flow through the acute care area.The CM coordinates resources and services in response to individualVeteran needs, performs utilization management activities, andoversees coordination of complex discharge planning for assignedcase load.

In cases of graduates of foreignschools of professional nursing, possession of current, full,active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirementof graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursingdegree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professionalnursing registration constitutes the completion of an approvedcourse of study of professional nursing.

Students should submitthe certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX tothe VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript.

(Reference VAHandbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates offoreign schools of professional nursing, possession of acurrent, full, active and unrestricted registration will meetthe requirement for graduation from an approved school ofprofessional nursing.

– At least 5 years of recent, successful Registered Nursingpractice

– Nurse I Level III
– An ADN or Diploma in Nursing andapproximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR anADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in a relatedfield and approximately 1-2 years of nursingpractice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years ofnursing practice/experience; OR a Master’s degree in nursing(MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursingpractice/experience.
