– Full time Are you an experienced RN, passionate about bringing and sharing your expertise to an expanding unit?

If so, you may be the right candidate for our Registered Nurse 2 position on our Med Obs Unit.

Position Highlights: A dedicated, protocol driven adult medical Observation Unit designated for patients who require clinical decisions for further management specifically to determine the need for an inpatient admission.

This is a fast paced outpatient unit for patients who may be managed up to 23-48 hours before a decision regarding disposition is needed.

Patient populations will be 18 years of age to end of life.

The unit is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

The unit requires nurses to have acute assessment, critical thinking and analytical skills-set and great teamwork skills Position Responsibilities: Evidence Based Interventions
– Participates in the collection of data to support unit based quality, initiative, research and evidence based activities.

Relationship and Caring
– Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, acknowledgement of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting of optimal outcomes.

Critical Thinking
– Utilizes competent assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of the patients and families.

Technical Expertise
– Demonstrates consistent safe and effective use of medical devices in the delivery of patient care.

Leadership
– Demonstrates the ability to provide education to staff and students on the unit.

Position Qualifications Include: Current Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure or eligible for IL RN license required.

Bachelors of Science (or higher) in Nursing required; Current CPR-BLS required ( American Heart Association or American Red Cross only) Progressive experience in Med-Surg, Emergency Room or Critical Care nursing preferred A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.

Previous observation unit, short stay unit or clinical decision experience highly preferred.
