– Office of Advanced Practice The Project Manager for the Office of Advanced Practice is an integral member of the RUMG leadership team, acting as project manager for the practices of more than Rush’s 320 advanced practice nurses and physician assistants.

Position Highlights: The major focus of the position is to monitor and benchmark APP productivity, bill revenue cycle and business practices.

Positive results will be to identify areas where APPs can optimally perform patient services to the full extent of their license, increase productivity and revenue, while enhancing the patient experience.

The ideal candidate for this position can organize and analyze large sources of data, and support the Rush APP Directors in working with physicians and hospital staff to implement effective practice model.

The Project Manager should be a process oriented problem solver; able to analyze clinical activities and the interaction between APP and physician job duties; as well as APP reimbursement.

The Project Manager will recommend process improvements and work with clinical leadership to implement process changes which will support the achievement the Office of Advanced Practice program goals.

This individual exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities: APP Performance and Best practices Leads and provides support to departments and physicians to assess needs for APPs.

Assists efforts with creation and implementation of APP strategic planning.

Understands, monitors and promotes optimal ambulatory and inpatient practice models for physicians and APPs that maximize utilization as well as revenue.

Creates a benchmarking system to evaluate ongoing APP performance.

Monitors compensation and incentive practice guidelines for differing APP practices using market driven data.

Provides guidance and facilitation to departments to bring APP scope of practices to highest levels possible.

Researches best practices for APPs and work with leadership to incorporate best practices into practice design.

Drives implementation of critical business metrics and ongoing end-to-end process reviews.

Meets regularly with practice leadership to assure ongoing success.

Provides expertise and tools to managers to sustain process improvements.

Develops effective communication methods to keep staff and others informed about improvements.

Provides assistance with creation of the APP Annual Report.

Analyzes individual APP ambulatory templates on an ongoing basis and identify opportunities to improve patient access.

APP Data and Tracking Collects data, organize information, and generate statistical analysis whenever appropriate.

Maintains a comprehensive roster and database of all APPs.

Monitors and tracks APP onboarding, off-boarding and turnover for each department/section.

Continuously analyzes and perform audits on APP billing data to determine gaps and identify areas for improvement.

Collaborates with the CIO office to identify EPIC metrics that can be tracked for APPs for continuous ongoing quality improvement.

Ensures proper onboarding of RUMG clinics and satellite locations for reprocessing.

Assists in Office of Advanced Practice budget development and tracking.

APP Quality Serves as liaison to the Advanced Practice Executive Committee (APEC).

Staffs Lead APP Meetings on monthly basis, assists with agendas and maintains minutes.

Assists the Peer Review committee co-chairs with agenda setting as needed and distribution of minutes.

Provides quarterly updates of all APP activities to the APC.

Assists APC committees and sub-committees as needed.

Manages quality improvement related projects and initiatives.

Collaborates with APC to determine practice needs for improvement.

Works in partnership with RUMG practices and other departments to develop and implement improvement plans and achieve results.

Reports findings and recommendations back to the APC.

Monitors continued adherence to new processes.

Position Qualifications Include: Bachelor’s degree is required.

A Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience in the health care environment.

Able to conceptualize and implement process improvement recommendations in the areas of practice management, APP reimbursement, electronic medical records use, human resources, and budgeting.

Strong project management skills are required, formal training in project management is preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer; strong spreadsheet and database skills required.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Strong communication and teamwork skills required.

Excellent interpersonal skills required for interacting with employees at all levels of the organization Ability to function independently and in a team-based environment.

Ability to work effectively with various levels of employees and management; ability to build consensus across diverse groups.
