Program Manager – Regeneron Genetics Center External Collaborations

The Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, whose goals are to apply large scale human genetics to identify new drug targets and to guide the development of therapeutics programs and precision medicine.

Building upon Regeneron’s strengths in mouse genetics and genetics-driven drug discovery and development, the RGC specializes in ultra-high-throughput exome sequencing, large scale informatics and data analysis encompassing genomics and electronic health records, and translating genetic discoveries into new biology and drug discovery opportunities.

The RGC leverages multiple approaches including large population based studies, Mendelian genetics and family based studies, founder population genetics, and large-scale disease focused projects and has developed a network of over 50 collaborations with research organizations around the world.

Including some of the largest sequencing studies in the world, such as the DiscovEHR study in collaboration with Geisinger Health System, and an initiative to sequence 500,000 participants with the UK Biobank, the RGC has built one of the largest human genetics databases, including sequence data from over several hundred thousand participants and rapidly growing.

Our interests encompass a breadth of different areas across all therapeutic areas and the RGC is highly integrated into all facets of research and development at Regeneron.

Program goals include target discovery, indication discovery, and patient-disease stratification.

Objectives include advancing basic science around the world through public sharing of discoveries, providing clinically-valuable insights to physicians and providers of collaborating health-care systems, improving patient outcomes, and identifying novel targets for drug development.

Position Summary: We are looking for a Program Manager.

Using scientific expertise, program management knowledge and experience in the pharmaceutical industry, the PM will provide operational guidance to drive key external research technology collaborations.

The PM will coordinate and manage internal cross-functional teams that support external collaboration project activities, manage joint team interactions, deliver results and communicate key collaborative milestones.

In addition to driving research deliverables, the PM will develop and monitor budgets and timelines, as well as nurture productive relationships with internal and external teams.

Essential Functions
– Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teams: Builds cross-functional teams and manages internal/external collaboration deliverables in a matrix organization.

Drives the project / program’s evolution from initiation of new collaborations to their completion, within timeline, quality and budgetary constraints.

• Planning and Tracking: Facilitates the development of internal/external collaborative project / program plans relevant to the team deliverables and ensures alignment across internal functional areas.

Supports annual goal setting sessions to develop project / program level goals that contribute to the overall goals for Regeneron and for monitoring progress against these goals.

Facilitates contingency and risk mitigation planning.

• Collaborations: The PM will be a key contact that manages internal/external collaboration project / program interactions, operations, and deliverables between Regeneron and our corporate partners, including the coordination of activities for establishing research plans, status reports, data summaries or presentations for collaboration meetings, budget approvals, etc.

• Communication: Requires the ability to gain cooperation of others and effectively facilitates cross-functional meetings/discussions.

Ensures effective, accurate and timely communication across functional areas within the project / program, serving as a primary point of contact for management within and outside the team regarding progress on project / program goals.

Works with the team leaders to identify and resolve individual and team performance issues.

• Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities for standardization of processes and best practices and recommends a plan for implementation.

• Problem Solving: Proactively identifies issues and provides general guidance on resolving project / program challenges by developing solutions to meet productivity and quality goals and objectives.

Nature and Scope
• Works independently with general / limited guidance from a supervisor or team leader.

• Works cross-functionally in a matrix organization and supports the high-level research operation plans.

• Regularly interacts with Sr.

Management and/or executive level personnel on matters concerning several functional areas; Exercises good judgment and exerts influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the project / program.

• Represents the department in relevant internal / external committees.

Experience and Required Skills: This position requires a minimum of a BS / MS with a minimum of 5 years of relevant progressive project / program management experience OR work experience in the drug development / pharmaceutical industry.

Advanced degree (e.g.

PhD, MS plus MBA) preferred.

Additional requirements include:
• Experience, knowledge and a track record in program management in the drug development / pharmaceutical industry in matrix environment.

• Core competencies: Requires excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels both within and outside the company to establish credibility with professionals on the project teams.

• Proficient in advanced techniques with relevant software: MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
