The Product Developer / Instruction DesignerAs the Product Developer for the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), you will create and improve products, modular elements, and program extensions.

By fulfilling product specifications and following processes from product conception to implementation, you will deliver content and learning features that are outcome-oriented and customer focused.

Reporting to the Head of Content and working with the Senior Content Editor, Project Management, and SMEs, you will develop revenue-generating products that support the overall business initiatives.

You will do this by Critically analyzing needs to achieve outcomes.

Each feature assignment needs to be evaluated in an outcome-oriented way to determine development requirements.

For example, if developing quiz items to help a student prepare to pass an exam, the items must be written in a way to simulate the final exam experience.

Reviewing and contributing to reading material.

This includes reviewing chapter drafts from subject matter experts for clarity, learning objective fulfillment, up to date information, and engagement.

Reading material contributions will typically have a specified scope the Product Developer needs to review.

For example, if reviewing for learning alignment, your sole focus should be on providing recommendations on excess or absent material according to the pre-determined learning objectives.

Contributing to multimedia asset development.

Educational products include additional elements such as video, photo, and interactive features.

Product Developers will support these activities by creating shot lists, writing lecture scripts, organizing text element logs, and fulfilling course design needs.

Creating learning activities.

All learning activities will follow best practices in instructional design and have measurable KPIs including sit and pass rates.

Collaborating with other team members.

Product Developers often work on one portion of a larger deliverable.

This means you’ll need to consider the next step in the process and apply your efforts to make a smooth transition.

For example, when organizing a shot list for video production, it should be sequenced in a way that maximizes talent time and minimizes downtime.

Minimum 4-year degree (master degree preferred) in a related field such as instructional design, exercise science, or education.
