Physical Therapist (Trainee)- Temporary -Full Time – Ukiah Valley

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is located in the county seat of Mendocino County. Surrounded by redwoods and vineyards, it is lush with wilderness. Adventist Health Ukiah Valley operates a 49-bed hospital and affiliated clinics offer both specialty and primary care services.

The newly built emergency department operates with a physician on duty 24-hours a day and is designated as a level IV trauma center. Each year, Adventist Health Ukiah Valley treats more than 25,000 patients in its emergency room, performs more than 5,000 surgical procedures in its hospital based and ambulatory surgery center, delivers nearly 850 babies and performs more than 43,000 radiology tests.

Job Summary:

Plans and conducts segments of treatment programs designed to restore and improve physical, social and mental functions, while meeting department objectives. Collaborates with appropriate staff members to implement plan of care (POC). Develops capabilities to manage and oversee a case load of 75% productivity as well as 25% of a Physical Therapy Assistant case load per department protocol and trainee level of experience.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent: Preferred
  • Currently enrolled in a DPT program: Required

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to evaluate a patient, interpret results, and develop a treatment plan to achieve desired outcome and to monitor and progress the patient through the duration of length of stay, toward favorable outcomes as outlined in POC. Be able to utilize and be proficient in all treatment techniques and modalities utilized to achieve desired outcomes as outlined in POC.
  • Collaborates with certain staff members who are involved in the assistance of patient’s care and ensures accuracy of instructions and quality of care is as desired.
  • Be able to administer and train patients in utilization and function of all adaptive and functional equipment utilized in POC. These may include orthopedic splinting/bracing and adjustments. Utilization of ambulation equipment of walkers, crutches, canes etc.
  • Is proficient and accurate in utilization of Electronic Medical Record, ensuring charting requirements are met as determined by Insurance and AH requirements as well as Preceptor input.
  • Meets training goals set by organization and educational institution. Requirements will be consistent with participating Educational Program’s goals for each program, reflective of training received thus far and productivity expectations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
