This is a Full-time position in Gypsum, CO posted July 25, 2019.

POSITION PURPOSE: The Nurse Practitioner will provide patient care, consultation, evaluation, and education to patients of the Urgent Care Clinics located in Gypsum and Avon.


Practices in accordance with relevant Vail Health and State of Colorado Bylaws; Rules and Regulations; and Policies and Procedures.


Supports the coordination of the daily patient flow to optimize patient care, safety, and satisfaction.


Maintains confidentiality of patient, staff, and hospital administration.


Provides care within scope of practice as established by the privileges granted through the Vail Health Medical Staff Office.


Exercises competency in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and education/counseling to assure high standards of patient care, patient satisfaction and patient safety.


Displays and promotes professional, courteous, and collaborative interaction with patients/families, providers, staff, other Vail Health departments, and leadership in meeting patient care needs and promoting teamwork.


Demonstrates ability to delegate care appropriately and according to Colorado statute.


Ensures that patient documentation is in accordance with accreditation and regulatory compliance standards.


Role models the principles of a Just Culture.


Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be HIPAA compliant.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: At least two years experience as a Nurse Practitioner required.

Experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or a related area preferred.

One year experience in patient care without onsite Physician Supervision preferred.

License(s): Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Colorado Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority.

Ability to obtain and maintain an unrestricted DEA license.

Certification(s): Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), National Certification Corporation (NCC) or any certification recognized by the State of Colorado Board of Nursing.

Must be certified to evaluate and treat all ages of patients.

Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association Required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Required.

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Preferred.

Education: Successful completion of a masters or post-master’s degree from a nurse practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

Completion of specialty training as either an urgent care or family medicine NP in either; and urgent care or family medicine NP Master’s Degree nursing program or a formal postgraduate urgent care or family medicine NP tract or program within a school of nursing granting graduate level academic credit.

Evidence of successful completion will be a certificate or letter from the program director.
