Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
– Corrections job in Tillery, North Carolina.

Correctional Nurse 13-Week, Renewable Assignment Responsible for providing holistic nursing care within the appropriate scope of practice to incarcerated patients.

Work under the direction of the Registered Nurses, Director of Nursing and/or Nursing Supervisor and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to identify, assess, and respond to a wide range of physical, psychological and social needs of the patient.

Provide a broad range of services to the center including screening, assessment, medication delivery, treatment plans and patient education.

Participate in assessing patient’s mental and physical health, and documenting and reporting the results of the nursing assessment to the registered nurse or physician, or physician extender as appropriate.

Participate in the implementation of the healthcare plan, reinforcing teaching or counseling by a licensed physician or registered nurse, as well as documenting and reporting the nursing care rendered and the patient’s response to care.

Participate in inmate sick call as directed, using approved DPS Nursing Protocols, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Assist the unit physician or physician extender with sick call.

Prepare medical records for transferring, including following the policies and procedures for medication transfer in the Department.

Ensure that all treatments and medications are fully documented in the patient’s health record.

Ensure proper organization and maintenance of health records in accordance with the facility policies and the Health Care Policy and Procedure Manual.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising nurse.

Physical activity requirements include climbing up and down stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking and hearing.

Workers are exposed to infectious diseases and must adhere to blood borne pathogen exposure control plan.

Must be able to lift and/or turn patients, exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and /or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.

Provide treatment and services that are medically necessary, consistent with symptoms and diagnosis of treatment, appropriate with regards to standards of medical practice, not solely for convenience or Inmate request.

– Corrections job qualifications:
1 year clinical experience LPN Licensure: current, active, unrestricted in North Carolina Graduate of a North Carolina state approved nursing program Pass NCLEX PN exam BLS and CPI, or NCI training/certification Ability to pass facility requirements #BHC
