Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Critical Care, Physician, and the registered nurse, the Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for the provision of care for the assigned Emergency Department patients.This employee has access to medication storage areas, and may receive, deliver and store medications.The Emergency Medical Technician participates with the registered nurse in planning, coordinating and implementing plant of care to ensure quality, appropriateness, timeliness and effectiveness of service rendered.Key Provides all aspect of Emergency Department and CDU Care based on established standards.Demonstrates competency in all procedure within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served; the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; a knowledge of growth and development; and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.

Ordering and stocking of supplies for the Emergency Department and CDU.

Set up and assist in special procedures for the physicians and nurses.Which includes obtaining, preparing, and handling supplies, equipment and medicine necessary to perform the procedure.

Transporting patients to med-surg units, OR, Intensive Care, and Telemetry units, or for discharge home.Observes patients for unsafe behaviors, uses healing conversations to redirect patient with courtesy and respect.

Assist with Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the Emergency Department and housewide.Responsible to obtain RST box and bring it to floor codes.May participate on Code Blue Committee.Work requires frequent physical exertion and/or muscular strain.Work environment involves several disagreeable elements and/or exposure to job hazards where there is some possibility of injury.Formal Education Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond high school.Work Experience 1 to 2< years Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations EMT Florida State Certification and/or EMT/Paramedic National Registry Certification and/or Paramedic Florida State Certification BCLS ACLS, PALS preferred Equal Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/DisabledFlorida Today.
