The Director will focus clinical nursing practice outcomes through front-line engagement and innovative idea generation and implementation.

Through strategic planning, building key relationships, driving the implementation of action plans, and establishing core metrics for service delivery measurement, the Director will leverage Rush Nursing as the national leader in creating innovative, high quality, and safe best practices for patient care.

Position Responsibilities: Participates in strategic planning, the development of key initiatives to move forward nursing care of patients and families, and identification of metrics to evaluate organizational success.

Identifies and eliminates barriers in performance improvement initiatives, supporting the transformation of the front line staff to leaders for quality and safety.

Leads and manages teams in the redesign, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs, processes, and initiatives within the Division of Nursing, leading to measureable, improved outcomes.

Oversight and responsibility in the Professional Nursing Practice for daily management systems, patient safety, quality/performance improvement, staff engagement, accreditation and regulatory compliance, and support for data analytics work including predicative analytics.

Leverages new technologies, strategic planning, and contemporary thinking to evaluate marketplace best practices for possible introduction to Rush.

Participates in cross-system integrative work related to nursing quality, safety, satisfaction, and engagement to include balanced scorecard development across RUMC, RUMG, Rush Oak Park, and Rush Copley hospitals.

Facilitates the integration of the PNP department within the larger interprofessional Rush organization in the areas of safety/quality concerns, regulatory, and accreditation compliance.

Provides project guidance and support to teams involved in change initiatives.

In collaboration with the AVP, Professional Nursing Practice, considers the operational, human resource, and financial impact of strategic programs, changes, and policy/practice decisions.

Position Qualifications Include: Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required.

Master’s degree in Nursing or a related discipline required; Doctorate preferred.

At least five years of professional experience in quality and safety, performance improvement, patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and/or engagement work required.

At least one year of management experience required.

National Certification required.

Experience working with quality indicator and reporting databases such as Press Ganey, NDNQI, COMPdata, Leapfrog, or MIDAS.

CPHQ or CPPS certification preferred.

Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40 lbs.

A high level of analytical ability.

Strong problem-solving skills to include innovative solutions for addressing issues.

Ability to design complex clinical or administrative systems or programs.

Strong ability to present meaningful data and information verbally, in writing, or digitally.

Excellent communication skills are required with a proven ability to lead, guide, and support other team members.

Established reputation as a leader, consultant, and spokesperson for nursing.

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
