Position Highlights: The Director of Educational Programs in the Rush Department of Family Medicine (DFM) promotes high-quality family medicine training at Rush by creating and supporting relationships with key partners, designing and implementing curriculum innovations, and building and maintaining strong educational teams.

The DFM is currently at a transition and growth point and the Director of Education Programs will be a substantial contributor to the development of the future of the department.

The Director will work in close collaboration with the department’s vice chair for education (VCE) and other key educational leaders to design and implement new programs in undergraduate and graduate medical education.

The Director of Educational Programs will meld department mission and vision, adult learning principles, and requirements from accrediting bodies to build effective, comprehensive, and innovative programs in family medicine education.

Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities: Relationship building: Identify key community partners and needs With the support of DFM faculty and VCE, explore and initiate mutually beneficial relationships with community partners Build and maintain professional relationships with intramural educational partners Maintain thorough records and generate reports as required Assume a lead role in identifying and pursuing opportunities for intra
– and extramural funding for partnerships and educational programming Curriculum design and implementation: Keep current on best practices in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education Maintain internal and external standards In collaboration with other educational leaders, design curriculum for new and existing department educational endeavors, including writing curricular documents, maintaining records, designing and implementing assessment methods, and evaluating the success of new curriculum and programs Contribute to the implementation of new educational programming Collect and manage data to examine outcomes from new and continuing educational programs Develop and implement policies to ensure the continuous assessment and improvement of educational programs Coordinates internal and external review processes Advancement of the field of family medicine: Represent family-centered care when designing educational programming Model family medicine principles and values Facilitate the advancement of family medicine scholarship Developing and implementing methods of tracking scholarship and research output of department trainees Develop and implement methods of tracking CME and faculty development of department faculty Revise and, where needed, create methods for tracking faculty development Ensure faculty have individualized faculty development plans Revise and, where needed, create faculty development offerings based on identified faculty needs Serves as an active member of the department, attending meetings and participating in committees as needed Position Qualifications Include: Master’s degree in the field of education required.

Ph.D.

preferred.

10 years with medical education experience.

Experience with design and implementation of Graduate Medical Education (ie residency) programs highly desired Familiarity with primary care and family medicine Strong organizational skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills Team-building expertise.
