Description SHIFT: No Weekends SCHEDULE: Full-time FACILITY SUMMARY: Del Sol Medical Center is a Level II Trauma, 347 bed acute care TJC accredited hospital.

Within our hospital campus, we also house an Inpatient, CARF accredited Rehabilitation Hospital.

We are located on the Eastside of El Paso, Texas right off of Interstate 10.

We provide exceptional patient care services to the El Paso and Fort Bliss communities, as well as Southern New Mexico and West Texas Regions.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director is responsible for the care given to patients within 3 South; day to day departmental operations and productivity; future development and budgetary projections for the service line.

The Director ensures 3 South services maintains the highest degree of efficiency and safety in providing quality care in 3 South including quality improvement, staff competency, inventory control and cost containment, patient satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and physician satisfaction.

The Director collaborates and coordinates with efforts of 3 South staff to accomplish the mission of Del Sol Medical Center.

The Director leads by example and holds staff accountable for adhering to the goals, policies, and procedures of Del Sol Medical Center.

Areas of responsibility include 3 South.

POPULATION SERVED: Medical Surgical Services serves the adult and geriatric patients with suspected or confirmed medical diagnosis, malignancies involving all body systems requiring medical/surgical, chemo/radiation therapy including but not limited to: Neuro, GYN/GU, GI, pulmonary, skeletal and hematopoietic systems.

Our patient population is multicultural and has a high prevalence of diabetes and renal disease.

Care planning is individualized based on the patients assessed needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develops, supervises and administers adult and geriatric services.

Promotes a multidisciplinary coordination of services, such as, nursing, medical, respiratory care, laboratory, pharmaceutical and public relations.

Develops monitors, appraises and analyzes budgetary goals and outcomes for 3 South unit.

Develops plan, in conjunction with Administrative Director, for capital resource required to maintain quality care in the 3 South Unit.

Administers and appraises Quality Improvement within the services provided.

Controls processes related to Human Resources; inclusive of hiring, evaluating, terminating, counseling, coaching and development of the staff.

Directs, approves, and updates the practice of professional nursing and support positions within the services provided to maintain quality patient care through implementation and evaluation of clinical practice standards.

Develops, interprets, inspect and review policies and procedures for services provided.

Develops, institutes, reviews and implements disaster preparedness policies and procedures for the organization.

Collaborates, develops and participates in marketing of services, including education program development, external advertising and working in alliance with local and regional programs.

Responsible for twenty four-hour coverage and problem resolution for 3 South Unit/areas of responsibility.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: Registered Nursing License in state of Texas or Compact state required.

Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum College: Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or BSN EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Medical Nursing experience preferred.

Medical Surgical ANCC Certification preferred.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification preferred.

Minimum of 3 years in Medical Surgical services preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of supervisory/leadership position preferred.

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) preferred.

Ability to multi-task, prioritizes, and manages time wisely without direct supervision required.

Ability to work extended hours with frequent interruptions required.

Ability to instill confidence in subordinates and effectively portray the mission of the organization required.

Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patients, families, internal and external customers, managerial and employee needs required.

Ability to evaluate, listen and make decisions with fairness and objectivity on a consistent basis required.

Ability to coordinate several assignments at one time and meet deadlines required.
