Clinical Director, Behavioral Health
– Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, in Hartford, CT, is seeking a Clinical Director, Behavioral Health.

A major teaching hospital, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is part of Trinity Health of New England and the largest Catholic hospital in New England.

The Behavioral Health Services at Saint Francis include inpatient services for adults, children and adolescents, an opioid treatment program, and outpatient services.

The Clinical Director, Behavioral Health will be a seasoned nursing leader who can assess, develop, implement and evaluate polices, programs and services to further develop this service line to become a regional hub for behavioral health within the State of Connecticut and Trinity Health of New England.

This key leader will oversee 90 FTE’s and report to the CNO with a dyad structure in partnership with the Physician Leader of Behavioral Health Services.

Qualifications and Essential Functions: Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing or related field is required.

Current Registered Nurse license.

Five to seven years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care environment.

Plans, leads, organizes, directs and evaluates the delivery of behavioral health services within Saint Francis including inpatient and outpatient services and collaborating with behavioral health physician practices.

Leads development of the behavioral health management structure for Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Actively participates on the Nursing Executive Leadership team for the hospital to ensure behavioral health strategies are in alliance with the hospital nursing leadership.

Identify areas to partner for stronger support in behavioral health.

Develops the behavioral health service line in accordance with the strategic plan, leading all initiatives and strategies, including development of outpatient services.

Works closely with Physician Leader to address all clinical leadership, practice and recruitment needs.

Participates in the recruiting and onboarding of new behavioral health staff.

Develops all behavioral health business development/community relations initiatives, including strategic partnerships with local behavioral health organizations to facilitate coordination of services and meeting community needs.

Maintains compliance with all Federal, State and TJC regulations and requirements.

Works closely with the emergency department to better manage referrals between the emergency department and behavioral health.

Ensures programs are planned, evaluated, and modified as appropriate to meet the needs of patients consistent with organizational needs and the requirements of payers.

Work with senior leaders on union contracts and negotiations.

Participates in daily rounding and creates an innovative plan to expand services to meet the needs of the patients.
