Your Opportunity:

As our Registered Nurse, you will be working in a float position between our Pediatrics and Obstetrics departments, working within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing our values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy in your practice to provide leading care to Albertans.

Our Pediatric department has 8 beds with 4 overflow, serving a general population of 16 years and under. Our Obstetrics department contains 11 beds with an antenatal clinic operating adjacent to the unit. Our unit is very active with an average of 120 or more births a month! As our Registered Nurse, you will be providing leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation across a continuum of care, with the purpose of providing safe, quality care for patients and their families while reflecting the shared vision of Alberta Health Services. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Alberta Health Services policies and procedures. Through your education, experience, knowledge of current principles, techniques and procedures, and interpretation of evidence based healthcare practices and processes, you will play a key role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to the patient’s care, health promotion and health maintenance. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.


As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

    Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Two (2) years of experience in pediatrics and/or obstetrics. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Current Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC). Current Obstetrical Nursing Education (i.e. MoreOB). Current Fetal Health Surveillance Course.
